Learn how to make use of social networking tool Twitter while saving money at the same time. All you need to do is sign up for “tweets” (tips) from this list of helpful microbloggers. Every one of them has a budget-conscious message they happily share for free.

If you’re interested in tapping into the power of social networking, you’ve got to get set up on Twitter. Not only can Twitter provide constant amusement and regular updates about any topic that interests you, it can also bring you practical information that applies to your everyday life. Read on to discover how to use Twitter to your advantage and, in particular, find out who to follow on Twitter that will help you save money.

What is Twitter and what is a tweet?

Twitter is the name for one of the Internet’s most popular social networking tools. It’s essentially a service that allows users to post mini-blogs that are sent out as updates called tweets. Tweets are written as short, text-based posts that can be only a maximum of 140 characters in length.

Each user on Twitter has a profile page that displays his or her tweets. Other users can subscribe to these tweets by requesting, through Twitter, to be followers of the individuals who post the tweets. All you need in order to follow someone is your own Twitter account and the username of the person you’d like to follow.

Subscriptions to different followers can be limited to a user’s inner circle of friends or can be given open, public access. By having open access, users expand their network of followers and can use that network to stay in constant contact with and provide regular updates to their followers. As a follower, you would receive these updates – “tweets” – on a regular basis either though your mobile phone or email address.
