Ways to Save Money Online

By Catherine

BillSavings.com Brief:

Many websites exist to save you money. Visit these online wonders and take advantage of great deals on groceries, gas, travel expenses, and other goods and services. You can even use your cell phone to collect coupons! It helps to know what's out there and all the ways you can cut back expenses when making necessary purchases.

Ways to Save Money Online

With rising gas prices and groceries costing more than ever before, people are looking for ways to save money. In addition to clipping coupons, comparison shopping, carpooling, and visiting thrift stores, you can also shop online for the things you need. The Internet attracts so many shoppers and therefore you can find an abundance of opportunities to save money. Visit the following sites in order to save big on the things you need.

Craigslist: Most cities and towns have their own craigslist where you can browse for items as well as post things you'd like to sell. It's free to use. Shopping categories include household items, furniture, sporting equipment, baby items, and much more. If you want to clean out your house, get rid of unnecessary clutter, and make a few bucks at the same time, this is the website for you. Take a picture of whatever you'd like to sell, upload to the site along with a price and description, and let the buyers come and take the items off your hands. The days of sitting outside all day for a yearly garage sale are over. You can also look for jobs and services through Craigslist.

Priceprotectr.com: This site helps you get money back on items you have already purchased. Sign up with this site and register whatever you buy. The site will email you when prices drop due to sales or other reasons. Priceprotectr.com keeps track of protection policies at most stores and does the work for you -- all for free. You simply claim the savings by emailing, phoning, or returning to the store in person.

Gasbuddy.com and gaspricewatch.com: These sites keep track of your area's cheapest gas stations. Instead of wasting gas and money driving around or getting stuck just visiting the filler closest to you, you can visit theses sites in order to find a cheaper option. You simply fill in your zip code or city and they'll give you the best price for that particular area. Gaspricewatch.com will tell you how long the price has been in effect and you don't have to register to use the site. Gasbuddy.com will also give you helpful tips and offer contests to win free gas.

Retailmenot.com and cellfire.com: These sites are all about coupons. Retailmenot.com collects coupon codes for over 15,000 online stores. Enter the website in which you'd like to shop and receive the coupon almost immediately, usually in the form of a coupon code. Use that code upon checkout in order to get the discount. Cellfire.com is a way to access coupons on your cell phone. Just plug in your zip code and a list of local deals will appear. Click on the appropriate one and show that code or coupon when checking out at the store.

Thegrocerygame.com: This site charges a membership fee. For ten dollars every two months, you receive a list each week of the lowest-priced items at your favorite local grocery store. They will also match up these savings with coupons and special deals to help you save even more. You can get listings for different supermarkets, but that costs more every two months. Pay the extra fee and you can save money by comparing prices before you shop.

Honesty.com: Do you like shopping for deals on eBay? If you are a regular on eBay, but would like assurances that you are not overpaying for particular items, Honesty.com is there to help. This site will keep you informed about how much things are normally sold for on eBay and what's for sale over there right now. You simply type in the name of the item in question and the site returns comparisons on what's listed.

Pricespider.com and wishradar.com: Let someone else take on comparison shopping for you. They search online for whatever you want at the highest price you are willing to spend. You create a wish list and indicate the most you will pay for a particular item. These sites email you when they've found your desired product. They won't go higher than you can spend and sometimes will return an even cheaper price than you realized was out there.

Bookingbuddy.com:  This is a site for travelers. It makes finding deals on airfare, hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages a whole lot easier, saving you both time and money. It regularly uses popular search sites like Expedia and Priceline in order to find the best deals. All you have to do is enter the details of your trip and the sites you'd like Bookingbuddy.com to search and they'll do the rest.

Goodhousekeepingrewards.com: This site is affiliated with the popular magazine and allows you to earn cash-back rewards. You may get back up to 20 percent of savings at popular online retailers like Wal-Mart, Gap, and Best Buy. If you are a subscriber to the magazine, this service is free. Otherwise, you get a trial period for ninety days to see if it's for you.

There are also plenty of sites that offer free deals, samples, and trial periods.

Shop4Freebies.com, YesAll4Free.com, and Freecycle.org all allow users to find what they want or need free of charge. These sites have different requirements and membership options, for some all you need is an email address, but they all claim to give away items of interest. That could entice anyone to share their contact information.
